Duties
- Manage the overall operation of the gallery, including staff supervision, scheduling, and team management to ensure smooth daily functions.
- Develop and implement engaging exhibitions, educational programs, and public events that highlight the collection and attract diverse audiences.
- Oversee collection management activities such as cataloging, conservation, and proper curatorial object care to maintain the integrity of artworks.
- Coordinate fundraising efforts by writing grant proposals, managing donor relations, and organizing special events to support gallery initiatives.
- Utilize social media management tools to promote exhibitions, programs, and gallery news across various platforms, increasing community outreach.
- Maintain budgets for exhibitions and programming while ensuring efficient use of resources through budgeting skills.
- Conduct research on artworks and historical topics to enhance interpretive materials and educational content.
- Collaborate with local schools and community organizations to develop classroom experiences and outreach activities that incorporate museum experience and teaching skills.
- Manage databases for collections, memberships, and visitor records using Microsoft Office applications or specialized database software.
- Provide excellent customer service by engaging with visitors, answering inquiries, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for all guests.
Experience
- Proven experience working within a museum or nonprofit arts organization with a focus on collections management or curatorial duties.
- Demonstrated success in team management, including supervising staff or volunteers in a cultural setting.
- Strong background in fundraising activities such as grant proposal writing and donor engagement.
- Experience managing social media accounts for arts or cultural organizations to boost visibility and community engagement.
- Skilled in research related to art history or cultural topics with the ability to communicate findings effectively through presentations or writing.
- Familiarity with database management systems used for cataloging collections or memberships; proficiency in Microsoft Office suite is essential.
- Experience working with children in educational or outreach programs is highly desirable.
