Location: Wilmington, DE
Schedule: Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote), Standard business hours
Duration: 3 months w/possibility of extension
Pay: $45-50 per hour based on experience

The Procurement Specialist will collaborate with internal AstraZeneca business stakeholders to understand business requirements and match them with suitable, preferred suppliers. The individual will negotiate contracts and rates, manage commercial details, and mitigate risks for various supply projects. Strong analytical and technical skills are essential, along with the ability to effectively communicate and facilitate work across a large, complex organization.
Key Responsibilities:
• Work with internal stakeholders to assess and define business procurement needs
• Identify, screen, and engage AstraZeneca’s preferred suppliers or other potential suppliers as required
• Negotiate commercial agreements, contract terms, and pricing with providers
• Manage risk and ensure business needs are met through effective supplier management
• Carry out procurement analytics and commercial analyses to support decisions and draw actionable insights
• Use Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint, SharePoint) to create reports, analyze data, and facilitate information-sharing
• Ensure efficient information retrieval and sharing within a large matrixed organization
• Communicate clearly with internal groups and external suppliers, facilitating alignment and execution across teams
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
• Proven experience in procurement, sourcing, or a similar commercial role
• Strong experience negotiating agreements, contracts, and rates
• High level of analytical skills and commercial acumen
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to efficiently find and share information in a complex organization
Desirable Skills:
• Prior experience within the pharmaceutical industry
• Familiarity with common suppliers in the pharmaceutical sector
• Category-specific procurement experience, especially in: Market research, Professional services, Consulting, Advertising, media, and marketing services, Data services
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in business management or related field
• 2-3 years of experience within a professional organization
