Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a Security Infrastructure Support Database Administrator to join their team! This position is located in Bethesda, Maryland.
Duties:
- Design, configure, and maintain database systems supporting enterprise IT and security operations
- Manage and optimize databases across hybrid infrastructures on-prem and cloud
- Perform regular maintenance, monitoring, and performance tuning to ensure database availability and efficiency
- Implement and maintain database security controls, including encryption, access management, and auditing
- Support database migrations to cloud environments (AWS, Azure, O365), ensuring data integrity and compliance
- Conduct database patching, upgrades, and backups in accordance with cybersecurity policies and procedures
- Collaborate with development teams to support secure data storage, queries, and integrations
- Ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity frameworks such as FISMA, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-92, OMB M-21-31, and CDM
- Develop documentation for database configurations, procedures, and recovery plans
- Communicate database-related risks, performance metrics, and remediation plans to technical and executive stakeholders
- Work with third-party vendors and cross-functional teams to ensure database systems meet security and operational requirements
Desired Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field
- 5 years of experience designing, installing, maintaining, and supporting databases in hybrid (on-prem and cloud) environments
- 2 years of experience working within cybersecurity-focused environments or supporting secure data systems
- Hands-on experience with major database platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB
- Strong understanding of cloud database services AWS RDS, Azure SQL, etc., including migration and security hardening
- Familiarity with federal cybersecurity compliance frameworks: FISMA, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-92, OMB M-21-31, CDM
- Experience with database backup, recovery, patching, and replication strategies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify root causes and implement effective solutions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex database and security topics to technical and non-technical audiences
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with third-party vendors and cross-functional teams

The approximate pay range for this position is between $80.00 and $105.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
