Job Summary
Our client, a global agricultural life sciences company, is seeking a CAD Technician to join them. This person will work in a 100% onsite schedule at our client’s Urbandale, IA location. This position will use computer aided design (CAD) to create detailed 2D and 3D models for engineering and manufacturing projects.
This position is W-2 only. We do not work with third-party firms or C2C arrangements for this role.
Core responsibilities
- Create detailed electrical drawings, including power/control wiring diagrams, instrumentation loops, electrical schematics, cable tray layouts, electrical/instrumentation details, cable schedules, etc.
- Produce accurate 2D/3D AutoCAD drawings based on field findings and engineering direction
- Perform sizing and selection of circuit breakers and other protective devices as required for design packages
- Read, interpret, and update one-line diagrams, panel schedules, and equipment lists
- Work with project teams, including designers and engineers, throughout the design and review process
- Support design reviews by providing drawing updates, design clarifications, and field verification as needed
Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)
- 4 years of CAD design/drafting experience, preferably with a focus on electrical power and control systems
- AutoCAD experience required, strong ability to create and modify complex electrical drawings
- Deep knowledge of electrical design principles, including breaker sizing, load calculations, and power distribution layouts
- Experience conducting field measurements and developing designs based on real world data
Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with industrial, manufacturing, agricultural, or process facility environments
- Familiarity with electrical codes and standards, including NEC and NFPA requirements
- Experience using AutoCAD Electrical, Revit, or other advanced CAD design tools
- Knowledge of instrumentation, PLC systems, and industrial control systems design

Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $28.00 and $40.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
