Overview
The Client is an industry-leading organization focused on research and development of mammalian cell culture and bioproduction technologies. This role supports the development of new or improved products through hands-on laboratory research, data analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional scientific teams.
In this role, you will conduct research under the direction of a supervisor, perform mammalian cell culture experiments, support technical product development, and contribute to process improvements while maintaining Good Laboratory Practices and documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research under the direction of a supervisor leading to the development of new or improved products
- Perform cell culture experiments for research and development of mammalian cell culture products, technical product support, and process improvements
- Work on problems of moderate scope requiring analysis of data and review of identifiable factors
- Exercise judgment within generally defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate actions
- Perform common chemical and biological assays, including buffer and solution preparation, maintaining mammalian cell culture, transfection, dPCR, immunoassays, and quantification of biomolecules such as antibodies, adeno-associated viral vectors, and lentiviral vectors
- Design experiments and analyze data using Microsoft Suite, statistical tools, and experimental design and data plotting software
- Prepare formal technical reports and presentations
- Actively participate in group and project meetings
- Maintain and update job knowledge through educational opportunities and technical publications
- Maintain Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), procedures, and documentation
Qualifications:
- B.S. in a Biological Science, Chemical Science, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent
- B.S. candidates: minimum of 5 years of relevant laboratory-related work experience
- M.S. candidates: minimum of 2 years of relevant laboratory-related work experience
- Ability to perform a wide range of assigned work and solve complex problems
- Demonstrated potential for critical thinking and scientific judgment
- Knowledge of mammalian cell culture, chemistry, biochemistry, and mathematics
- Knowledge of basic laboratory equipment (e.g., balances, pH meters, dPCR systems)
- Experience with mammalian cell culture in biosafety cabinets, PCR (qPCR or dPCR), and immunoassays is highly desirable
- Knowledge of commonly used experimental and research concepts, practices, and procedures
- General knowledge of Microsoft Suite and data handling
- General knowledge of project management
- Knowledge of GMP and GLP procedures
- Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills; ability to follow SOPs; motivation to learn new techniques; and adherence to proper lab etiquette and hygiene
- Bioreactor experience is a plus
- Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently
