Keene State College Student Financial Services is seeking a Financial Aid Assistant to counsel and advise students and families about financial aid eligibility and application procedures. Successful candidate will be expected to work 8:00 - 4:30, Monday through Friday. This is 12 month position, with some weekend hours required, complemented by a generous benefits package.
Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships, the successful candidate will perform verification on selected student files; assist with webinars and admissions recruitment events; serves as the primary point of contact for students and families seeking assistance; and manage the oversight of the satisfactory academic progress program. All staff positions on campus support students and will be involved in student-focused activities.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Identify ways to enhance the student experience and service delivery in support of the College’s enrollment and retention goals
- Maintain knowledge of Title IV programs and regulations through webinars, and trainings, manage caseload
- Manage Satisfactory Academic Progress review process
- Participate in special condition appeals general appeals, and dependency override requests, including follow-up for additional documentation and clarification
- Provide financial aid guidance and assistance to the veteran’s compliance counselor
- Review financial aid reports as needed for adjustments to aid
- Provide and role model excellent customer service to the student and families throughout the financial aid process, and serve as the primary contact for students and families seeking assistance from the financial aid office
- Counsel students and families on financial aid opportunities
- Manage caseload: review student files; award financial aid; complete verification all in compliance with Title IV regulations.
- Ensures compliance with financial aid policies, procedures, and regulations
- Perform daily import and export of files with the Department of Education
- Conduct community financial aid presentations; participates in the KSC admissions programs; and presentations to KSC students on financial aid related topics.
- High school diploma or equivalent and four years of related experience involving progressively responsible duties requiring a high level of independent judgment and discretion, or Associate’s Degree and two years of related experience, or any combination of higher education and related experience equal to four years
- Proven customer service, communication, interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office systems, including Word, Excel as well as relational databases
- Effective problem-solving skills
- Ability to multitask
- Prioritize workflow
- Adhere to deadlines
- Work effectively both independently and as a team member
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the general public
- Bachelor’s degree
- Work experience in a College/University financial aid office
- Additional years of customer service experience
- Knowledge of federal, USNH, KSC and Financial Aid policies and the ability to explain them
- Ability to speak a second language
