This internship is a part-time, season-long commitment that includes working match days and non-match days.
Who are we hiring?
The Kansas City Current is seeking an Intern, UX & UI Design who is skilled in the design of our Mobile Applications and Websites, with a focus on creating an engaging and fan-friendly digital presence that aligns with our branding while driving user adoption, downloads, interactions, usability, functionality, and revenue generation. This position requires a highly collaborative individual who possesses a passion for delivering exceptional user experiences. The UX/UI Designer Intern will support the Manager and the Vice President of Content and Creative in managing and growing the KC Current web and app.
What will you do?
- Design and manage user experiences across our website and app, ensuring alignment with brand voice, user needs, and organizational goals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to create engaging, high-performing digital experiences that support key metrics.
- Contribute to the ideation and development of new features and enhancements.
- Conduct user research and apply insights, best practices, and user-centered design principles to inform decisions.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and user flows to communicate and iterate on design concepts.
- Maintain and update digital content through CMS tools, ensuring accuracy and consistency across platforms.
- Partner with internal teams to build landing pages and publish marketing, PR, and other digital content.
- Support the management of live-streamed matches and press conferences within the app.
- Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
What do you need to succeed?
- Internship experience in web and/or app UX/UI design
- Progress toward or completion of a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)
- Working proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Experience with design tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
- Familiarity with WordPress and other content management systems (CMS)
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects
- Effective communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams
- A proactive, ambitious attitude with enthusiasm for learning and taking initiative.
Special requirements of the Job:
- The ability to work nights and weekends for KC Current events, home and away matches
- The ability to drive to and from KC Current events and matches across Kansas City
