Key Responsibilities
- Own the full-cycle accounting function, including AP, AR, invoicing, general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial statement preparation.
- Lead the monthly and year-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Manage cash flow, banking activity, budgeting, forecasting, and expense management, providing leadership with clear visibility into company performance.
- Oversee high-volume customer invoicing and collections, ensuring billing accuracy and timely cash conversion.
- Manage and develop a small accounting/administrative team, providing coaching, oversight, and day-to-day support.
- Partner with external accounting and tax providers on annual filings, tax matters, and other reporting requirements.
- Maintain and improve accounting processes, internal controls, systems, and SOPs as the organization continues to grow.
- Oversee corporate insurance administration, including company policies and subcontractor/vendor certificates of insurance.
- Partner directly with ownership and executive leadership on financial and operational initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, communication, and financial processes across the organization.
- Remain hands-on with day-to-day accounting and be willing to step in wherever needed within a small-company environment.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including prior Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar leadership experience.
- Strong preference for experience within a small or mid-sized company where accounting leaders maintain hands-on responsibility for the financials.
- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, AP, AR, month-end close, reconciliations, financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Prior experience managing and developing a small team.
- QuickBooks Online and Bill.com experience required.
- Experience within HVAC, construction, trades, field services, manufacturing, or another operations-heavy environment strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience with EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) and ServiceTrade is a plus.
