A leading private-equity-backed metal manufacturing and services company is seeking a Director, Accounting & Plant Controller to lead accounting operations for a key industrial division.
This is a high-visibility opportunity for an experienced manufacturing accounting professional who wants to take ownership of a multi-site operation and play a critical role in a growing, diversified platform serving aerospace, defense, medical, and semiconductor OEM customers.
Reporting directly to the CFO, this role will own division-level accounting, financial reporting, treasury, and government registration compliance across a three-site manufacturing footprint spanning Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead general ledger, month-end/year-end close, and financial reporting across multiple sites/entities
- Oversee division-wide AP and AR operations
- Own treasury, cash positioning, banking relationships, and liquidity forecasting
- Manage federal and state government registrations, including ITAR and DoT compliance
- Lead and support annual tax and 401(k) audits
- Standardize accounting processes and controls across multiple locations
- Partner with external auditors, banking partners, and compliance counsel
- Collaborate with Finance/Costing leadership to improve ERP systems and processes
- Travel regularly between Vermont, New Hampshire, and northern Massachusetts
- 8–10 years of accounting experience, with significant manufacturing industry experience
- Strong experience with manufacturing accounting and financial reporting
- Multi-site, multi-entity, and consolidation experience
- Treasury or cash management experience required
- Experience in a private-equity-backed portfolio company is a strong plus
- ERP experience within a manufacturing environment
- Exposure to regulated manufacturing environments such as ITAR, DoT, aerospace, defense, or similar is a plus
- CPA preferred
- Strong cross-functional communication and business partnering skills
- Comfortable operating in a lean, decentralized finance organization
