Key Responsibilities
- Lead all accounting and financial operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management, and month-end close.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cash flow management while providing financial analysis to executive leadership and the Board.
- Manage federal, state, foundation, and private grant accounting, reporting, budgeting, and compliance.
- Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and financial procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and grant requirements.
- Coordinate the annual audit, Single Audit, and IRS Form 990 preparation while serving as the primary contact for external auditors.
- Supervise and develop accounting and grants management staff, fostering continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Monitor organizational financial performance, analyze budget variances, and provide recommendations to support long-term financial sustainability.
- Partner with executive leadership on strategic planning, organizational initiatives, and operational decision-making.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
- Progressive accounting and finance leadership experience, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit accounting, grant compliance, budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Proficiency with accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
