Job Summary
The Social Worker will provide direct case management, counseling, and advocacy services to youth participating in KBECs ILP program. Working under the guidelines set forth by the DC Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA) for contracted independent living programs, the Social Worker will develop individualized service plans, coordinate access to community resources, and support youth in their transition to independent living. This role is essential to maintaining the mandated staffing ratioemploying at least one social worker for every twenty residents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Client Assessment & Case Management:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of youth needs and strengths.
- Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized service plans that outline goals and steps toward independent living.
- Counseling & Advocacy:
- Provide counseling and crisis intervention services tailored to the unique challenges facing youth transitioning from foster care.
- Advocate on behalf of clients to ensure access to essential community resources such as housing, education, employment, and healthcare.
- Compliance & Documentation:
- Adhere to all DC CFSA guidelines and requirements, including maintaining the necessary social work staffing ratio within the ILP.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case records and documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Collaboration & Coordination:
- Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including educators, healthcare providers, and community-based agencies, to support a holistic approach to youth services.
- Participate in regular case conferences and team meetings to monitor progress and adjust plans as needed.
- Professional Development:
- Engage in continuous professional development and training to stay current with best practices in social work, youth empowerment, and independent living programming.
Qualifications
- Education:
- A masters degree in social work or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Program Staffing Requirement:
- In accordance with ILP standards, the program shall employ at least one (1) social worker for every twenty (20) residents, ensuring manageable caseloads and personalized support for each client.
- Professional Skills & Experience:
- Strong case management, counseling, and crisis intervention skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with adolescents and young adults transitioning from foster care to independent living.
- Familiarity with DC CFSA policies and the administrative standards for Independent Living Programs is highly desirable.
- Interpersonal & Organizational Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to establish rapport with youth, families, and community partners.
- Proven organizational skills and attention to detail, especially in maintaining documentation and reporting requirements.
- Licensure:
- Eligibility for social work licensure in Washington, DC (or current licensure preferred).
Salary : $67,000 - $70,000
