We are seeking a dedicated TMS Technician to join our compassionate team at Karner Psychological Associates at our Watertown office. This role is responsible for administering Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation treatments to adult patients in a behavioral health setting. This role ensures safe, comfortable, and effective delivery of TMS therapy while supporting patients throughout their course of care. In addition to standard TMS responsibilities, this position may include verifying insurance benefits and assisting with prior authorization processes.
Responsibilities:
- Administering treatments: Operate TMS equipment to deliver treatments according to protocols.
- Patient monitoring: Observe patients during sessions to ensure their comfort, safety, and accurate treatment delivery.
- Patient education: Inform patients about the TMS procedure, possible side effects, and answer their questions.
- Equipment management: Prepare aTMS nd position the TMS equipment correctly for each treatment.
- Record keeping: Accurately document session notes, patient responses, and other treatment data in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Collaboration: Work with psychiatrists, clinicians, and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care.
Administrative and support tasks
- Verify insurance benefits for TMS treatment and document coverage details.
- Assist with gathering required clinical documentation for prior authorizations.
- Communicate with insurance companies, as needed, regarding benefit information or treatment approvals.
- Scheduling: Schedule appointments for patients and manage the clinic calendar.
- Patient support: Greet patients and handle incoming calls.
- Record management: Maintain patient files and ensure compliance with regulations like HIPAA.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient-care skills.
- Ability to learn and follow detailed clinical protocols.
- Comfort working with individuals experiencing mental health conditions.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic health records.
Preferred:
- Previous experience as a TMS Technician, medical assistant, behavioral health technician, EEG/EMG tech, or similar clinical support role.
- Experience with insurance verification or healthcare billing processes.
- Associates or bachelors degree in psychology, neuroscience, healthcare, or a related field.
- CPR certification.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to position equipment and assist patients safely as needed.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate clinical equipment.
Pay: $25.00 per hour
