Kanzaki Specialty Papers Inc., located in Ware, Massachusetts, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Oji Holdings Co., Ltd., one of the largest paper companies in the world. We manufacture high-quality direct thermal paper for the retail, logistics, medical, gaming, and industrial markets.

We are currently seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Mix Operator to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for preparing coating mixes and sub-mixes used in our manufacturing process, operating Mix Room equipment, performing quality checks, and safely handling and transferring raw materials and finished mixes.

The Mix Operator works under the direction of the Lead Operator and plays an important role in maintaining product quality, production efficiency, and a safe work environment.

Compensation

• Union Position
• Starting Rate: $23.95/hour after successful completion of the introductory period (360 hours worked)
• Shift Differential: $1.30/hour for night shift
• Overtime: 4 hours paid at the overtime rate every shift

Pre-employment drug screening required.

Schedule

12-hour night shifts: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM

• 12-hour shifts
• Employees typically work 36–60 hours per week
• Additional overtime opportunities are frequently available

Position Summary

The Mix Operator prepares coating mixes and sub-mixes according to established formulas and production requirements. This includes gathering, measuring, and loading raw materials; operating Mix Room equipment; monitoring key process parameters; performing required quality checks; and transferring finished mixes to coating machines, storage tanks, or other designated locations.

This position requires strong attention to detail, safe material handling practices, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Follow formula sheets to prepare coatings, mixes, and sub-mixes in accordance with ISO 9001 procedures.
• Gather, measure, and load raw materials; operate Mix Room equipment and adjust process parameters as required.
• Operate computers, sand grinders, pumps, towmotors, and other Mixing Department equipment.
• Perform required quality checks and ensure mixes meet established specifications.
• Transfer mixes to storage tanks, coating machines, or other designated locations.
• Perform equipment wash-ups, routine maintenance, and maintain Dahlgren unit solutions as required.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow all company safety procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Manufacturing, production, mixing, or machine operation experience preferred.
• Ability to accurately follow formulas, work instructions, and established procedures.
• Basic computer skills and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to safely operate industrial and material-handling equipment; towmotor/forklift experience preferred.
• Dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

• Ability to lift 40 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during a 12-hour shift.
• Ability to perform physical tasks associated with handling raw materials and operating production equipment.
• Ability to work around industrial machinery and material handling equipment.
• Regular exposure to normal factory conditions.
• Some exposure to dust, fumes, odors, and wet conditions.
• Required use of appropriate personal protective equipment and adherence to all safety procedures.
