Position Summary
Join a BPU, WYCO’s municipal electric and water utility as a Supply Chain Intern, gaining hands-on experience in procurement, inventory management, and utility operations. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to support initiatives that enhance supply chain efficiency and ensure timely delivery of critical materials and equipment. This internship offers valuable exposure to public sector logistics in a service-oriented, community-focused environment. While also providing mentorship from experienced professionals within the utility.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with procurement activities in compliance with BPU’s purchasing procedures, including bid preparation, vendor outreach, and contract management. *
- Support warehouse operations by observing and learning the processes for receiving, issuing, and staging of materials. *
- Participate in supplier evaluations by focusing on reliability, cost-effectiveness, and in compliance with sourcing requirements. *
- Collaborate with engineering and field operations teams to support capital improvement projects and maintenance plans. *
- Contribute to special projects. *
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the supply chain team. *
- Denotes essential functions of the position.
Education and Experience:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Public Administration, Business, or a related field from an accredited university
- Must possess a valid driver’s license as required by the State of Kansas for any travel related to internship activities.
Intern must be able to participate in storeroom activities with or without reasonable accommodation.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Demonstrated interest in municipal services, construction, or public utilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proficient in Excel and MS software products.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) and procurement platforms is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to a regulated, safety-conscious environment.
