Pay,Benefits, & Work Schedule

Hourly Rate: $34.73

Schedule: Second Shift - 3:30 PM to 11:30 PM

Duties and Responsibilities

• Wash passenger cars, light trucks, medium duty trucks, heavy-duty trucks and work equipment using high pressure washing equipment.*
• Clean garage floors, wash bays, offices, storage areas, empty shop trash etc.*
• Goes on roadside service calls to deliver fuel, change flat tires, including passenger tires up to 425/65R22.5 heavy-duty truck tires, etc., and may be required to tow in vehicles during emergencies.*
• Performs a variety of other duties including but not limited to picking up parts needed to repair vehicles and equipment at various locations in the city, refueling units, etc.*
• Performs oil changes per department PM forms, and repairs tires for all types of vehicles and equipment.*
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Working Foreman Garage and other management personnel.

Qualifications

Job Summary:

Provides a variety of general laborer duties and assists garage personnel as needed.

Education / Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of auto mechanics preferred.
  
  

Position Requirements (Abilities)

• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license as required by the State of Kansas for vehicle(s) operated.
• Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
• Must have a good attendance and safety record.
• Must be willing to work overtime, holidays or regular days off as needed.
• All applicants for this position who do not presently hold a safety sensitive position will be required to submit to a drug test after successful bid and before actual appointment.
  
  

Prerequisite Skills

Must be able to pass the skills demonstration evaluation and be able to drive all trucks owned by BPU.

External Hire

• Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or have passed the written portion of the test by the start date.
• Must pass the driving portion of the test within the first thirty (30) days of the probation period.
  
  

Internal Hire

• Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) on the start date or obtain the license within the first thirty (30) days of the probation period.
