Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Supervisor of Instrumentation & Electrical or Lead Electrician perform the following duties and responsibilities:
- Select and maintain tools, materials, supplies and equipment necessary to perform required maintenance. *
- Document recognized work requirements according to plant maintenance procedures. *
- Inspect, perform preventive maintenance, perform repairs and clear station step-up, start-up and auxiliary transformers. *
- Inspect, perform preventive maintenance, perform repairs and overhauls on station generators, bus leads and excitation control systems. *
- Inspect, dismantle and repair all sizes of electric motors from fractional to 4000 HP. *
- Inspect and repair plant 5KV switchgear including breakers, bus, cable, protective relays and controls. *
- Inspect and repair plant 480V switchgear and motor control centers including breakers, bus, cable, protective relays and controls. *
- Maintain and install, as required, plant communications systems including public address and telephones. *
- Inspect, perform preventive maintenance and repair plant 125 VDC battery, static invertor and emergency generator systems. *
- Inspect and maintain the electric components of pollution control systems. *
- Inspect and maintain the electrical power and control systems on coal handling conveyors, feeders and related equipment. *
- Inspect and maintain the plant alarm and annunciator systems. *
- Maintain the plant lighting and power distribution systems. *
- Operate Mobile Crane, Forklift, and Yard Truck. *
- Perform similar and related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a recognized five-year apprenticeship or several years of equivalent work experience in central power stations or heavy industry.
- Consistently uses required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follows safe work practices in accordance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, regular days off and other work schedules as needed.
- Ability to train and qualify to operate a mobile crane, forklift and yard truck during the probation period. Once qualified must have the ability to retain qualification.
- Must be skilled in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, electrical circuitry, and the maintenance manuals used in the analysis, repair and testing of electrical equipment and systems.
- Must be skilled with use of tools and equipment common to the trade.
- Applicant must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without a reasonable accommodation.
