Description
Examples of Duties
A. Assists students with academic studies during the weekdays, and/or Saturdays, as scheduled by the supervisor.
B. Serves as a mentor by providing guidance in the areas of Reading, Basic Math, or Basic Computer skills to adult students.
C. Communicates with instructional staff and/or supervisor as appropriate.
D. Maintains records of student contacts and other documentation as assigned by the supervisor.
E. Attends tutor and mentor training sessions, regularly scheduled staff meetings, and other training as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
A. High school diploma or equivalent, required.
B. Some college coursework preferred.
C. Good interpersonal communication skills highly desirable.
D. Self-motivation skills and ability to work with little supervision required.
E. Ability to provide own transportation to schools and meeting sites required; ability to work evenings and weekends preferred.
F. Demonstrated positive attitude and team approach toward accomplishing program goals highly desirable.
G. Must be a current student at Kankakee Community College enrolled in six or more credit hours during fall or spring semesters. For summer employment, student must be enrolled in three or more credit hours in the summer term and/or six or more credit hours during fall semester.
H. Student is required to read and agree to the KCC Student Employment Agreement.
I. Federal Work-Study students should also read and agree to the program rules and regulations.
J. Work schedule and hours may vary and are determined by each department's need. Maximum of 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. Maximum of 29 hours when classes are not in session or during the summer.
K. Qualified candidate must be functionally literate in reading, writing, and computation skills as well as computer literate or willing to learn.

Wage: $15.00/hr.
