Description
Under direct supervision, assists with maintaining the college campus grounds; setup and clean-up of special events; moving of equipment and furnishings; and other tasks as assigned.
Examples of Duties
A. Assists full-time grounds staff with their duties as required.
B. Operates push mower to mow grounds and weed trimmer.
C. Assists with trash pick-up.
D. Cleans college vehicles.
E. Cleans Grounds shop.
F. Assists with snow removal, as-needed.
G. Assists with special event setups and cleanups.
H. Assists with minor furniture moving, e.g. chairs, tables, etc.
I. Greets and assists students, KCC employees, and the general public.

A. Performs other duties as assigned.
B. Responds to the functions of the position in an environmental setting which might include cold, heat, odor, dampness, dirt, fumes, dust, oil, grease, noise, or vibration on a frequent basis. Appropriate protective devices are available as required.
Minimum Qualifications
A. High school diploma or equivalent required.
B. Able to safely operate a push lawn mower and weed trimmer.
C. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without an accommodation, required.
D. Must have a valid Driver's License.
E. Able to lift or move tables, chairs and other furniture or equipment, with assistance, required.
F. Able to climb ladders, as needed.
G. Able to interact with others in a professional manner.
H. Must be a current student at Kankakee Community College enrolled in six or more credit hours during fall or spring semesters. For summer employment, student must be enrolled in three or more credit hours in the summer term and/or six or more credit hours during fall semester.
I. Student is required to read and agree to the KCC Student Employment Agreement.
J. Federal Work-Study students should also read and agree to the program rules and regulations.
K. Work schedule and hours may vary and are determined by each department's need. Maximum of 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. Maximum of 29 hours when classes are not in session or during the summer.
L. Qualified candidate must be functionally literate in reading, writing, and computation skills as well as computer literate or willing to learn..
Supplemental Information
Rate of pay: $15.00 per hour eff 1/1/25.
