Kane Partners is proud to represent a leading Engineering firm in the Chicago, IL area seeking a dedicated Structural (Bridge) Engineer to join their growing infrastructure team.
In this role, you will execute complex technical structural engineering techniques for high-impact transportation and infrastructure projects. The Role: Purpose & Impact
As a Structural Engineer, you will work side-by-side with a high-performance project team to prepare engineering plans, reports, and designs. You will transition from receiving general instruction on complex assignments to serving as a technical lead, providing guidance and quality assurance for junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
· Design & Analysis: Prepare reports, plans, specifications, and construction schedules. Your work will include the design of steel girders, prestressed concrete beams, various substructure configurations, and earth retaining systems.
· Project Leadership: Direct tasks on projects, monitoring progress for technical accuracy while adhering to schedules and budgets.
· Field Engagement: Coordinate and conduct field visits to ensure accurate data collection and observations.
· Collaboration & Communication: Prepare internal and external technical presentations and assist with client and outside agency communications, including public meetings.
· Advanced Engineering: Lead various analyses for bridge inspections, condition reports, and the preparation of Type, Size, and Location Plans (TS&Ls).
Qualifications
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required (Structural coursework completed).
· Experience: 3 years of professional engineering experience with a heavy emphasis on structural engineering.
· Licensure: * Fundamentals of Engineering (EIT) preferred.
o PE Registration (or ability to obtain within 6 months) preferred.
o SE Registration (or ability to sit for NCEES exam within 6 months) preferred.
o IDOT Approved Team Leader for NBIS Bridge Inspections is a significant plus.
· Technical Proficiency: * Expertise in Bentley Open Roads Designer, AutoCAD, and Civil3D.
o Knowledge of structural analysis software: OpenBridge Designer, STAAD, L-Pile, and AASHTOWare.
o Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD, AREMA, IDOT Bridge/Culvert Manuals, and Illinois Tollway Structure Design Manuals.
· Eligibility: Visa sponsorship is not provided for this position. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
