What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pallet Builder/Repairer position at Kamps Pallets?
Summary: Kamps is looking to hire pallet builders and repairers. As a Pallet Builder or Repairer, you will be responsible for constructing and repairing wooden pallets used for shipping, storage, and transportation of goods. Your primary focus will be on building and repairing pallets that meet industry standards and customer specifications.
This is fast paced, physically demanding work. Workers must be able to lift up to 50-75 lbs. repetitively. This position will involve using a nail gun, band saws, and other power tools.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build pallets according to customer specifications, using hand and power tools such as nail guns, and saws
- Work efficiently to meet production quotas and deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards
- Inspect finished pallets for defects, such as loose nails, splits, or cracks, and make necessary repairs to ensure structural integrity and compliance with quality standards
- Turn in piecework sheets or other required paperwork daily to supervisor
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Be responsible for all personal tools (hammers, crowbar, nail gun, etc.) and Personal Protective Equipment (safety glasses, gloves, etc.)
- Follow safety protocols and procedures while operating equipment and handling materials to prevent accidents and injuries. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a clean and organized work area
- Know and observe rules of conduct at all times
- Work hours and shifts required to meet customer demands
- Other duties as assigned by Plant Management

Qualifications/Skills:
- Previous experience in pallet building, carpentry, woodworking, or a related field is preferred but not required. On-the-job training may be provided for candidates with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, and maneuvering heavy materials (up to 75 pounds) and standing for extended periods
- Collaborative attitude with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to a positive work environment
- Commitment to following safety guidelines and protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe work environment
- Able to work in various weather conditions
Pay: $15.00 per hour during training. After training, compensation shifts to a piece rate system.
