Job Summary:
Kamps is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic Assistant, who will provide support in ensuring the efficient operation and upkeep of machinery and equipment within the facility. Responsibilities include assisting with preventive maintenance tasks, helping to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, and supporting the work of the maintenance team as needed. The position offers opportunities to learn from experienced mechanics while contributing to reduced downtime, sustained productivity, and a safe working environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist preventive maintenance efforts on machinery and equipment, coordinating schedules and tasks to optimize efficiency and reliability
Participate in repair and replacement activities, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards
Participate in the training process for junior maintenance staff by sharing basic knowledge, assisting with hands-on tasks, and reinforcing guidance provided by senior mechanics
Perform routine maintenance tasks, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail and precision
Collaborate with production personnel and other departments to address maintenance issues, prioritize tasks, and minimize disruptions to operations
Enforce safety regulations and company policies, leading by example in the use of lockout/tagout procedures, personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe work practices
Assist with the installation, modification, or relocation of machinery and equipment, applying advanced technical knowledge to ensure successful outcomes
Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining a safe and productive work environment for all employees
Demonstrate a positive, cooperative attitude at all times
Other duties as assigned by plant management and maintenance supervisor

Qualifications/Skills:
Basic mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience (professional or personal) using tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement
Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed
Ability to adapt to new challenges and changing priorities
Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities
Demonstrated interest in industrial maintenance or mechanical systems
Willingness to learn, take initiative, and work in a fast-paced, industrial environment
High school diploma or GED
Good communication and teamwork skills
Must be able to carry and lift parts weighing up to 75lbs
Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or warehouse settings is a plus
Technical or vocational training in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance is a plus
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Must have a valid driver's license

Pay: $60, $65,000.00 per year
