This is a seasonal position generally going from April to September, with flexibility based on weather conditions and operations.

Aquatic Operations & Safety
Ensures supervisory decisions align with organizational goals and are in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, applicable laws, and regulations. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; scheduling and timekeeping; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Aquatic Operations & Safety
- Oversee daily pool operations including water quality, chemical balance, and pool equipment in compliance with local and state standards
- Ensure a safe, clean, and well-maintained aquatic environment at all times
- Maintain required logs (chemical readings, incident reports, certifications, inspections)
- Proactively identify and resolve safety risks
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate all aquatics staff
- Maintain proper staff-to-patron ratios and certification compliance
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and hospitality
- Conduct regular in-service training and emergency drills
- Develop and execute a seasonal calendar of aquatics programming including:
- Swim lessons (youth and adult)
- Recreational swim activities
- Club events and private bookings
- Enhance member engagement and satisfaction through innovative programming
- Support club initiatives positioning KGCC as a premier aquatics and family destination
- Coordinate aquatic events and club-sponsored activities
- Collaborate with Food & Beverage and Events teams to support poolside service and experiences
- Identify opportunities to increase utilization, participation, and non-dues revenue
- Assist with seasonal aquatics budget management (labor, supplies, programming)
- Track participation metrics and program performance
- Provide recommendations for continuous improvement

- Experience in private club, resort, or hospitality environments required
- 2 years of aquatics or pool facility management experience preferred
- Working knowledge of Washington State pool codes and safety regulations
- Excellent communication and member service skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced seasonal environment Proficiency in scheduling, reporting, and basic budgeting
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Sports Management, or related field preferred
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Obtain and maintain a Work Permit Level 3
- Lifeguard Certification (American Red Cross or equivalent)
- CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers
- First Aid Certification
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or ability to obtain within 60 days
- Lifeguard Instructor / Water Safety Instructor (preferred)
- Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to respond quickly to emergencies and perform water rescues
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions
