Director of Preconstruction

Kalb Construction is seeking a Director of Preconstruction to lead our preconstruction efforts across Nevada and Arizona. This individual will oversee the full front end of our project pipeline and guide a growing team of estimators, coordinators, and preconstruction professionals. The Director of Preconstruction will work closely with executive leadership, clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to shape project strategy, produce accurate budgets, and support our continued expansion across all markets.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preconstruction team and provide direction on estimating strategy, project approach, and client communication
• Oversee conceptual budgeting, schematic estimates, design development pricing, and final GMP proposals
• Manage preconstruction schedules, deliverable timelines, and the overall workflow across multiple states
• Develop and refine estimating standards, procedures, cost history databases, and internal systems
• Work directly with clients and design partners to clarify scope, identify risks, and produce clean, transparent pricing documents
• Coordinate early subcontractor engagement, value engineering exercises, site evaluations, and cost modeling
• Provide leadership during the transition from preconstruction to operations, ensuring consistent handoff and project alignment
• Support market analysis, cost trend forecasting, and competitive positioning as Kalb expands in each region
• Mentor and develop the preconstruction team to strengthen technical capability, communication, and client service

Qualifications

• Significant experience in commercial estimating and preconstruction leadership
• Strong understanding of construction methods, building systems, design coordination, and cost drivers
• Proven ability to manage multiple estimates and deliverables across several markets simultaneously
• Excellent communication skills with clients, subcontractors, and internal leadership
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and modern estimating platforms.
• Procore and/or Autodesk experience is a plus
• Ability to lead, coach, and build a high performing team
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and a clear, organized approach to project planning
