Experience

• 2 years of recent experience in pediatric health care required
• Hospice experience preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Child Life Certification (completed or currently in progress) required

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm (Ability to work weekends, nights, or holidays as needed)

Kahu Malama Nurses is seeking a Child Life Specialist to join a growing and dynamic team!

Job Description

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to assess developmental, emotional, social, sensory, coping, and behavioral needs, and contribute to individualized plans of care.
• Support children and families by identifying, educating, and encouraging the use of age-appropriate coping strategies when facing illness, disability, grief, or loss.
• Plan, coordinate, and facilitate individual and group activities that promote creative expression, emotional well-being, developmental growth, and therapeutic play. Foster social connections with peers, siblings, and family members whenever possible.
• Actively participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and staff meetings to integrate child life goals into the overall care plan for the child and family.
• Respond to crisis situations with professionalism, compassion, and composure while ensuring the safety and well-being of children and families.
• Facilitate legacy-building and memory-making activities for children and siblings facing end-of-life circumstances, providing opportunities for emotional expression and meaningful involvement.
• Create and maintain a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for infants, children, adolescents, and their families.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient documentation and effectively communicate relevant information with care team members.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
