Overview
Contractor Safety Representative to support construction and equipment installation projects.
This role is responsible for leading contractor safety programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the mission of achieving an incident-free workplace through standardized safety practices and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and enforce construction safety programs across multiple trades (structural, mechanical, electrical)
- Direct contractors in implementing safety management systems and requirements
- Conduct formal safety audits for construction and installation activities
- Review and validate Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for accuracy and completeness
- Lead weekly contractor safety meetings
- Support and drive plant-wide safety initiatives
- Develop and manage safety reports, KPIs, and compliance documentation
- Translate complex safety regulations into clear, actionable standards
- Prepare and deliver presentations (incident reporting, policy updates, plant status)
- Perform risk assessments and challenge conditions through data-driven analysis (Toyota-style kaizen thinking)
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of construction safety experience (multi-trade environment)
- Strong experience in:
- Safety audits & compliance
- Data analysis and reporting (KPIs)
- Problem solving / continuous improvement (kaizen mindset)
- Certifications Required:
- OSHA 30 (Construction)
- OSHA 510 (Construction Standards)
- Working knowledge of NFPA 70E (or CSA Z462 equivalent)
- Strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, reporting tools)
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Safety certifications such as:
- CSP, ASP, CHST, STSC, CSHO, CSHT
- OSHA 500 (Train-the-Trainer)
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety or related field
- Experience supporting large-scale manufacturing or industrial construction projects
