Machine Shop Foreman
Juniper Industries, a leading 90-year-old New York Metal Fabrication Company specializing in pressure vessels and watertight/ballistic closures for ships, is seeking an experienced and motivated Machine Shop Foreman.
Job Responsibilities:
The right candidate will supervise and guide machinists in the performance of their tasks as well as perform the same tasks. The Machine Shop Foreman will plan the work flow through the department, and control the usage of tooling.
Job Duties:
- Review samples, drawings and work order instructions to understand specifications
- Select appropriate processes / machines, such as lathes, mills, drills, surface grinders, etc
- Determine production batch sizes and best machine sets for maximum productivity
- Plan the sequence of operations
- Monitor machines and operations / performance to assess and recommend best practices
- Check output to ensure consistency with specifications
- Perform routine machine maintenance and repairs
- Document production output including time and material per job
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues for improved performance
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Machinist trade school a plus)
- Minimum 10 Years’ proven experience as machinist with machinery maintenance experience
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals
- Solid knowledge of machine and tool selection as well as set ups for various machining operations
- Extensive experience in using manual machines (lathes, mills, grinders etc.)
- Ability to use precision tools such as micrometers, calipers, and other gauges to take and record accurate measurements
- Knowledge of the properties of metal and other materials
- Good math skills
- Leadership skills
- Use of appropriate PPE (Safety Glasses, Steel Toe Shoes, Gloves, Clothing As Directed)
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift 50 pounds.

Pay: $74,000.00 - $82,000.00 per year
