Position: Behavioral Health Medical Assistant
Job Type: Full-Time; non-exempt

Job Summary:
Judson Center is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). The Medical Assistant will work in the behavioral health program with support services and an interdisciplinary team and will perform clerical, administrative and clinical job duties. The Medical Assistant will work under the direction of a Front Office Operations Manager and Medical Director. Patients are referred through MCCMH, DHHS, Medicaid, and private insurance
companies.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist clients with medication related activities.
- Assist psychiatric providers through completion of MAPS daily, triaging phone calls, completing/prepping medication refills, administering and recording GeneSight testing.
- Complete and follow up prior authorizations needed for medications.
- Prepare clients for examinations, record vital signs, current complaints, and pertinent history for clients.
- Maintain client medical records.
- Prepare client record information for physician referrals.
- Order medical testing and make medical referrals to outside facilities as directed by psychiatric providers.
- Type letters and memos on behalf of psychiatric providers.
- Administer injections, as prescribed by psychiatric provider.
- Provide support to primary care services, if needed.
- Participate in staff team meetings.
- Ensure client related paperwork including federal and state mandated forms, client diagnostic records and progress notes are in the appropriate client file and electronic health record.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is preferred.
- Valid Michigan Driver’s License and Insurance.
- Previous experience working in community health, public health, or a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Experience in patient care, health education, or outreach programs is a plus.

- Bilingual abilities may be a plus, depending on the community served.

- Ability to provide culturally competent services that shows sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
Working Conditions
- Clinical office environment; Non-Traditional hours may vary.
- May involve travel to different community locations.
- Working with consumers with a variety of behaviors, including aggression.
- Regularly required to, walk, stand, sit, communicate verbally and in writing, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard. Close vision requirements due to computer work
