Job Duties
The General District Court is seeking a dependable team player for an open Deputy Clerk GR8 position. The Clerk’s office is a fast paced, high volume environment with frequent deadlines. The position requires strong multi-tasking skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize assigned workload. Must be committed to providing excellent customer service to a diverse population.
This position offers a competitive benefits package, which includes vacation and sick leave, 13 paid holidays, health insurance, retirement, life insurance, deferred compensation and short- and long-term disability. The County of Loudoun will supplement the state’s pay by 20%.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Deputy Clerk will perform a wide range of clerical duties including, but not limited to,
interaction with the public and other agencies via in person customer service at the front counter as well as via telephone. Must be able to explain complex policies and procedures efficiently. Additional duties may include case management, data entry, intake and review of court documents, preparing detailed court documents and correspondence in accordance with established guidelines, preparing court dockets, assisting the Judge in the courtroom, assessing court costs and fines, post court processing of cases to include scheduling and issuing of post court documents, and other responsibilities as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
The most competitive candidates will possess:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Desired skills for the position are experience in customer service, money handling, general office related skills such as filing, data entry, and working a multi-line phone system.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience- The most competitive applicants will possess experience working in the legal field such as an attorney’s office or previous court experience.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Work is primarily performed in an office and courtroom setting. Duties require the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and operate standard office equipment. The employee may be required to lift or carry items weighing up to approximately 10 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made.
