Estimator – Job Summary
A detail‑oriented Estimator responsible for supporting Sales through the full tender and RFP process. The role involves reviewing RFQ packages, identifying technical and commercial requirements, performing material take‑offs, preparing cost estimates, and coordinating with Engineering, Vendors, Project Managers, and Sales. This position ensures all contractual elements are accurately evaluated and documented to support competitive proposals and successful project hand‑offs. Strong analytical skills, construction knowledge, and precision in estimating are essential to delivering accurate pricing and effective cost control.
Key Responsibilities
- Tender & RFP Review — Analyze RFQ sheets and full proposal packages to identify scope, risks, and missing information.
- Technical Evaluation — Interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents to ensure accurate take‑offs and cost assumptions.
- Cost Estimating — Develop detailed material, product, and service estimates; verify accuracy of final estimate packages.
- Vendor Coordination — Issue RFQs to external vendors and gather pricing for purchased products and services.
- Proposal Development — Draft preliminary scopes and proposal documents for Sales.
- Project Support — Assist Sales during contract award hand‑off and support Project Management with scope‑change estimates.
Qualifications Summary
- 2–5 years of estimating experience (precast concrete or construction preferred).
- Degree/diploma in Civil Engineering, Architectural Technology, or related field; CET an asset.
- Familiarity with DOT and municipal tendering processes.
- Strong numerical, spreadsheet, and MS Office skills.
- Ability to interpret technical data, drawings, and contract documents.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
Salary : $75,000 - $85,000
