Judge Direct Placement is seeking a Maintenance & Facilities Manager for their industry leading manufacturing client in the Jacksonville-Springfield, IL area. This is a critical leadership role responsible for the strategic oversight of equipment reliability and physical plant infrastructure within a high-volume manufacturing environment. This position balances the technical demands of industrial machinery maintenance with the operational requirements of facility management. The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary team to maximize uptime, ensure rigorous safety compliance, and manage large-scale capital projects, all while optimizing operational costs and energy efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Operational Reliability: Develop and execute comprehensive Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) programs to minimize unplanned downtime and extend asset life cycles.
- Facilities Management: Oversee all building systems, including HVAC, high-voltage electrical distribution, compressed air, boilers, and plumbing, ensuring a safe and climate-controlled production environment.
- Team Leadership: Direct, mentor, and train a team of maintenance technicians, electricians, and mechanics, fostering a culture of technical excellence and accountability.
- Project Management: Lead the planning and execution of capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects, including new equipment installations, facility expansions, and structural upgrades.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure the facility meets all OSHA, EPA, and local regulatory requirements. Manage critical safety programs such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Arc Flash safety (NFPA 70E), and environmental permits.
- Financial Stewardship: Develop and manage the maintenance department budget, overseeing the procurement of spare parts, MRO supplies, and third-party service contracts.
- Continuous Improvement: Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and streamline maintenance workflows.
- Vendor Management: Negotiate and supervise contracts with external vendors for specialized services such as fire suppression, waste management, and structural repairs.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
- Experience: 7–10 years of experience in industrial maintenance or facilities management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a large manufacturing plant.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of PLC systems, robotics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and industrial power distribution.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as SAP, Maximo, or UpKeep, as well as proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Regulatory Expertise: Thorough knowledge of local building codes, OSHA safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage high-pressure situations during equipment failures.
- Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) or Certified Facilities Manager (CFM) are highly desirable.
Salary : $120,000 - $165,000
