Johnson Service Group is seeking a skilled HVAC Lab Technician to support fabrication, maintenance, and testing of aircraft-related and HVAC equipment, with a focus on Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) and Ductless (DLS) systems. This role is responsible for preparing and executing development, performance, reliability, and functional testing in accordance with UL and internal standards. The technician will work closely with engineering teams across multiple locations to support product development and validation efforts.

Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate, assemble, and modify test apparatuses and ductwork for HVAC testing
- Set up, instrument, and execute testing of VRF and DLS systems and components
- Install thermocouples and other sensors; prepare units for psychrometric testing
- Build, modify, install, and decommission HVAC units used in lab testing
- Perform electrical and mechanical modifications to test units and components
- Maintain environmental conditions (temperature/humidity) within test chambers
- Collaborate with engineers and lab teams to support testing and product development
- Accurately record, document, and manage test data using database systems
- Calibrate and troubleshoot test equipment and instrumentation
- Tear down units post-testing and manage material sorting/scrap
- Identify opportunities to improve lab processes, efficiency, and capabilities
- Support lab initiatives, objectives, and continuous improvement efforts
- Ensure compliance with HVAC certification standards and safety guidelines
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant HVAC, mechanical, or lab experience
- EPA 608 Universal Refrigerant Certification required
- Experience with HVAC systems, refrigeration cycles, and troubleshooting
- Basic knowledge of electrical wiring and instrumentation installation
- Proficiency with hand/power tools and electrical equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and test data
- Experience working with pressurized or combustible gases preferred
- Brazing (copper) experience preferred
- Ability to operate forklifts and overhead cranes
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions
- Ability to multitask and adapt to shifting priorities
- Willingness to work second shift as needed
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
