Job Summary: The Senior Sourcing & Contract Specialist serves at the primary contact on end-to-end sourcing strategy, contract development, and supplier performance management for assigned clinical and/or non-clinical categories. This role serves as a subject matter expert with deep knowledge of healthcare commodities and services, driving value through strategic negotiations, standardization, and cross-functional collaboration. They require strong professional presence, high emotional intelligence, and the ability to effectively communicate with senior leadership, physicians, and operational stakeholders to demonstrate the strategic and financial impact of Supply Chain initiatives.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities
- Plans, coordinates and executes complex sourcing initiatives, contract strategies, and enterprise workstreams across assigned service lines.
- Partners with leadership to identify, prioritize, and execute sourcing opportunities based on spend analytics, savings potential, operational complexity, and contract lifecycle timing.
- Develops and maintains sourcing project timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder communication plans.
- Leads and drives sourcing outcomes including savings realization, contract compliance, value optimization, and stakeholder satisfaction.
- Maintains deep knowledge of assigned categories, supplier markets, and healthcare industry trends to identify cost, quality, and operational improvement opportunities.
- Applies strategic sourcing methodologies to optimize total value, not solely price, across the supply and service value chain.
- Partners with Contract Management on contract development and negotiations to achieve best value outcomes, mitigate risk, and support organizational goals.
- Simultaneously manages multiple negotiations while balancing quality, service, innovation, and financial performance.
- Identifies supplier negotiation positions and leverages best alternative to negotiated agreement (BATNA) strategies.
- Focuses on total value management, including enhanced service agreements, warranty improvements, rebate optimization, consulting support, innovation commitments, and year-over-year cost containment.
- Manages strategic relationships with key and preferred suppliers within assigned categories.
- Monitors supplier performance through data analysis, service metrics, compliance tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Escalates risks, performance issues, and findings to leadership with mitigation strategies.
- Validates analytical work performed by Supply Chain Analysts and Decision Support including spend analytics and taxonomy reporting, savings validation and tracking, SWOT and market assessments, Porter’s Five Forces analysis, utilization and contract compliance reporting, and data visualization through Excel and PowerBI.
- Partners with clinical, operational, and executive stakeholders including department leaders, Physician Champions, Finance, and frontline users to define business requirements.
- Ensures sourcing decisions align with organizational priorities including assurance of supply, quality outcomes, cost stewardship, innovation adoption, regulatory compliance, and supplier diversity and MWBE participation.
- Facilitates cross-functional teams to develop and execute formal sourcing events (RFI, RFP, RFQ, RFB, reverse auctions) using e-Procurement platforms.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field of study from an accredited college or University.
- 5 plus years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or contracting; preferably within a healthcare setting to include experience negotiating contracts for medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, capital equipment and/or professional services.
- Certified Materials & Resource Professional (CMRP).
- Certifications in government procurement. National or State Certification (NCMA (CCCM/CPCM) or TX Comptroller CTCD/CTCM).
