What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Director position at Journey Treatment Center?
Journey is a residential and outpatient substance treatment facility with the mission of creating more sobriety and connection within the community. Journey is proud to serve underserved populations and passionate about providing quality care to clients. The Clinical Director will oversee clinicians and case managers of both inpatient and outpatient programs.
The Clinical director must have a minimum of a Master’s degree in one of the following areas of study. Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Clinical Psychology. The Clinical Director should also have a minimum of two years of experience as a clinical director. The Clinical Director must have a minimum of 4 years working as a therapist or counselor in the addictions and dual diagnosis treatment industry. The Clinical director must also be fully licensed through the state of Utah with one of the following licenses. CMHC, LCSW, LMFT, or Licensed Clinical Psychologist.
The responsibilities of the Clinical Director include, but are not limited to:
- Monitoring all clinical services for legal, ethical, and performance standards.
- Monitoring and providing direction and training for all documentation that is done in the program
- Providing clinical supervision for all licensed staff as well as non-licensed staff when deemed necessary.
- Training all staff on mental health and behavioral health concerns in regularly scheduled staff trainings
- Overseeing hiring, training, supervision, and training of all therapists, substance abuse counselors, and case managers
- Managing and directing the nature of the program, performance standards and client rules
- Maintaining and managing a clinical budget and helping Journey meet financial benchmarks
- Completing assessments and utilization reviews for clients and ensuring that all clinical assessments and utilization reviews are up to current standards for Medicare and individual insurances where applicable
- In tandem with Marketing Director, ensure clinical fit for clients entering into services
- Discharging and removing clients from the program when the client is a danger to themselves or others or the program is not a good fit for the client
- Monitoring and maintaining policies and procedures in tandem with program director
- Oversee a caseload of clients and will provide group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy, and update treatment plans as often as policy indicates.
Required Qualifications:
- A master's or doctorate and a license to practice mental health in the state of Utah that is maintained in good standing.
- Ability to supervise other master's level counselors.
- Knowledge of substance abuse treatment
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of director level experience in substance abuse or mental health field
- Strong clinical and interpersonal communication and writing skills
- Experience supervising and training clinicians
- Experience auditing and improving clinical programs

Pay: $85,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
