The Clinical Director (CD) is a fully-licensed executive management position with responsibility to oversee all clinical services and supervise all employees in their designated treatment program. The Clinical Director meets regularly with the NAT-SU executive leadership team and other directors to collaboratively plan operations, make, and interpret behavioral health policies, address staff and client concerns, and otherwise carry out the goals of NAT-SU Healthcare.  

Job Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Supervise therapists, case managers, and peer support professionals. 
  • Oversee and adjust all programming components as needed. 
  • Maintain program standards, policies, and procedures. 
  • Ensure that all licenses, certifications, accreditations, and required trainings are current. 
  • Maintain a small caseload (up to 5 clients) when needed. 
  • Facilitate psychoeducation, therapy and/or support groups as needed. 
  • Directly accountable to NAT-SU's senior leadership. 
  • Other duties and responsibilities as needed.

Education and Experience:  

  • Master's degree in mental health field from an accredited college or university 
  • Valid LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, or Psychologist license in any U.S. state. Working toward Utah licensure is required within one year. 
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in Substance Abuse and Mental Health treatment 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a professional supervisory capacity (behavioral health or otherwise) 

Key Skills and Competencies:  

  • Competent in theory and treatment of co-occurring disorders (SUD and MH diagnoses) 
  • Educated in and familiar with Medication Assisted Treatment methods and modes of delivery. 
  • Familiarity with American Indian/Alaska Native culture and historical trauma 
  • Overall familiarity and skill working across cultures. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort with collaborative decision-making 
  • Whole person orientation to health, recovery, and services 
  • Trauma-informed orientation and trauma-specific treatment modalities 
  • Familiarity with White Bison treatment curricula, i.e., Wellbriety, Mending Broken Hearts, others, or willingness to receive (NAT-SU paid) training in such. 

Physical Requirements:  

To comply with the Rehabilitation Act of 1973’s essential physical, mental, and environmental requirements, employees must be able to successfully perform all functions of their job with minimal supervision.     

Work Hours:  

The Clinical Director position is a full-time, exempt position with occasional weekend and on-call work. The Clinical Director holds a position of high responsibility and as such, work hours may need to be adjusted on occasion to respond to client and program needs. Thus, the Clinical Director is encouraged to call upon other NAT-SU leaders as needed to help maintain a sustained and harmonious work/life balance.  

This position is subject to Native American/Alaskan Native preference.
