Duties
- Provide peer support by sharing personal recovery experiences to inspire hope and motivation among clients.
- Assist individuals during mental health or addiction crises through crisis intervention and crisis management techniques.
- Conduct behavioral health assessments to identify client needs and develop personalized support plans.
- Utilize motivational interviewing strategies to encourage positive behavioral changes and goal setting.
- Offer mentoring and emotional support to help clients develop coping skills and resilience.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to coordinate care and document interactions using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems accurately.
- Educate clients about available mental health counseling, addiction counseling, social services, and community resources to promote recovery.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Peer Support Specialist or equivalent credential recognized in behavioral health fields.
- Lived experience with mental health challenges or addiction recovery that aligns with the role’s requirements.
- Strong knowledge of crisis intervention, crisis management, and behavioral health principles.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage empathetically and motivate others.
- Experience in mental health counseling, addiction counseling, social work, or related fields is preferred.
- Proficiency with EHR systems for documentation and care coordination.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
