Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Purchaser, located in Henderson, TN. The Purchaser provides procurement support for all assigned locations in accordance with Company policies, procedures, and project goals. The position utilizes best-in-class strategic sourcing and techniques to identify, qualify, solicit, select, and negotiate with vendors to obtain materials and services from vendors at the best value for the company with consideration given to cost, safety, quality, reliability, and delivery requirements per the company's need. The Purchaser is responsible for purchasing materials and supplies.
Duties of the position will include, but not be limited to:
- Work with Purchasing Manager to develop and implement purchasing processes, procedures, and practices
- Purchase jobsite materials, tools, and supplies with high attention to detail
- Source best price/quality/service
- Collaborate with the purchasing team and field personnel
- Arrange shipments with LTL, HOT SHOT, or Courier services to ensure timely deliveries
- Obtain quotes for cost comparison and lead times
- Coordinate field delivery or will calls
- Source and evaluate potential suppliers and make recommendations to management
- Assist Project managers in sourcing/buying materials for new projects
- Work cooperatively with others in a Team environment
- Interact with suppliers
- Discover and resolve material, shipping, and invoicing errors
- Maintain accurate records
- PO database and tracking
- Track/ follow up on orders
- Research products
- Maintain product & vendor database
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Light lifting 15 lbs. or less
Skills and Qualifications:
- Recent Construction Purchasing experience required (as a buyer)
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Knowledge of pipe and fittings is not required but preferred.
- Analytical thinking ability.
- Negotiation and business relations skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Proficient Computer Skills: MS Word, Excel, , Smart Sheet experience a plus
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
- Time-management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Solid problem-solving skills and high attention to detail.
- Positive attitude and excellent people skills.
