Jones & Company CPAs is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our growing team in Oxford, North Carolina. We are a well-established public accounting firm known for long-term client relationships, technical excellence, and a collaborative, people-first culture.
This role is ideal for an experienced bookkeeping or accounting professional who enjoys working with multiple clients, managing day-to-day financial operations, and contributing to a high-performing team in a fast-paced public accounting environment.
What You’ll Do:
In this role, you’ll manage financial data for multiple clients while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong client service.
- Process and manage client bookkeeping, including recording and reconciling financial transactions
- Prepare and maintain financial statements and supporting documentation
- Process payroll and ensure compliance with payroll tax regulations
- File and remit tax returns and other financial obligations
- Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts
- Track fixed assets and prepare depreciation schedules
- Generate and analyze financial reports using income and expenditure data
- Maintain accurate records in accounting systems and databases
- Communicate with clients to gather information and respond to inquiries
- Support accountants and partners with additional financial and reporting tasks
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, IRS regulations, and firm policies
What We’re Looking For:
- 3 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or public accounting
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial record management
- Working knowledge of GAAP and payroll processing requirements
- Experience with accounting software such as Thomson Reuters (UltraTax, Accounting CS) or similar platforms
- Experience with QuickBooks or comparable systems preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with clients
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- High level of integrity and ability to maintain strict client confidentiality
Nice to Have:
- Experience working in a public accounting firm
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
- Notary Public (or willingness to obtain)
