Duties

  • Responsible for the design and development of training materials for relevant courses.
  • Accountable for staff leadership, management, direction, coordination, and oversight and control of the training support programs within USSOUTHCOM.
  • Provide policy and procedural guidance to USSOUTHCOM, Service Components, and other agencies in areas such as training support coordination, master scheduling, and training evaluation systems.
  • Manage the design of training courses to include mandatory training sequence, course length, lesson outlines, learning objectives, and resource requirements.
  • Develop unique training programs to fulfill personnel's specific needs to maintain or improve job skills and performance.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. The incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019 and must pass urinalysis testing, as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position may require occasional TDY travel.
  • May be required to work overtime.
  • This position is designated Tier 5, Special Sensitive, High Risk and the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance Level with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access as a condition of employment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1. Developing unique training programs to fulfill personnel's specific needs to maintain or improve job skills and performance; 2. Coordinating with educational institutions to provide targeted leadership and development trainings for command personnel; and 3. Designing training courses to fulfill mission requirements ensuring operational readiness throughout the organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12 or above).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
