Long Term Substitute (High School Science)

Position available at Johnston High School - Science Department

• Anticipated start date: March 2026
• Anticipated length of assignment: Through end of 2025-2026 school year

Daily substitute rate: $165 per day; increasing to $185 on 11th consecutive day, $235 on 21st consecutive day

Qualifications, Certification, and Experience:

• Valid Iowa Teaching or Substitute license
• Punctuality and attendance; regularly begins and ends tasks on time
• Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships and works cooperatively with students, parents and staff
• Projects a positive image as an educator in the school and in the community
• Promotes a positive image of the Johnston Schools
• Respects differing points of view
• Demonstrates an understanding and acceptance of diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, gender, special needs and religious groups
• Uses discretion in handling confidential information and situations
• Actively supports expectations of student behaviour outside of the classroom during the school day
