John Wood Community College is seeking an experienced and student-focused leader to serve as the Dean of Student Affairs. The Dean of Student Affairs serves as the College's chief student services officer and provides strategic leadership, direction, and oversight for a comprehensive portfolio of student affairs and enrollment services. This position is responsible for the overall operation, personnel supervision, and budget management of assigned areas.
The Dean ensures the delivery of effective and accessible, student-centered services that support recruitment, engagement, retention, and completion. Serving as the primary student advocate, this role leads institutional efforts to meet the evolving academic and social needs of the student body while advancing the mission of John Wood Community College. This position also serves as the College's Title IX Coordinator and Student Conduct Officer.

Enrollment Services
- Provide leadership, supervision, and strategic direction for Admissions, Advising & Retention, Campus Care, and Athletics to ensure alignment with institutional recruitment and retention goals.
- Establish and oversee policies, practices, and initiatives that drive successful student recruitment, enrollment growth, and persistence.
- Lead and coordinate the College's comprehensive strategic enrollment plan, ensuring cross-functional alignment and execution.
- Collaborate with institutional research to analyze data and utilize predictive modeling to inform enrollment strategies, resulting in improved credit hour production and headcount growth.

- Serve as the College's Student Conduct Officer, managing conduct investigations, adjudication processes, and resolution of student behavioral concerns.
- Coordinate student success initiatives designed to support academic achievement, personal development, and overall student engagement.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and institutional policies related to student conduct, student support services, and accessibility.
- Manage and mediate student complaints, concerns, and disciplinary matters, serving as a liaison between students, faculty, and staff to ensure timely and equitable resolution.
- Oversee the Academic Standing Committee, including the administration of academic standing policies, student appeals, and grievance processes.
- Ensure fair, consistent, and student-centered application of institutional policies related to academic performance and conduct.
- Interpret federal, state, and Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) regulations and develop, implement, and communicate compliant policies, procedures, and processes.
- Coordinate the tracking, documentation, and reporting of required state data, including credit hour claims, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain appropriate records and reporting systems to support audits, compliance reviews, and institutional accountability.
- Coordinate the assessment, tracking, and evaluation of co-curricular programs and student learning outcomes to ensure compliance with Higher Learning Commission (HLC) accreditation standards.
- Serve as the College's Title IX Coordinator, ensuring institutional compliance with all applicable federal, state, and Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) regulations.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of Title IX policies, procedures, training, and response protocols.
- Ensure prompt, equitable, and compliant handling of Title IX reports, investigations, and resolutions.
- In the role of Chief Student Conduct Officer, collaborate with the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) Lead to coordinate responses to student behavioral concerns and ensure adherence to the Student Code of Conduct.
- Promote campus-wide awareness, prevention education, and training related to Title IX and student conduct expectations.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to advance institutional effectiveness, fiscal responsibility, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in institutional and administrative committees, as assigned, to ensure effective alignment of resources with institutional priorities and strategic objectives.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Academics and Student Affairs that support and advance the mission of John Wood Community College.
- Serve on college-wide committees aligned with professional responsibilities and institutional priorities, as well as those assigned by administrative leadership.
- Actively participate in the College's senior leadership team, contributing to institutional decision-making and direction.
- Engage in budget development and planning processes, facilities master planning, and the execution of strategic planning initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, or a related field required.
Experience
- Experience supervising one or more divisions within student services.
- Two (2) to five (5) or more years of leadership experience at the Director level or higher in student services or a related functional area.
- Demonstrated management and leadership experience in the following areas: records/registrar, financial aid, student services, athletics, and enrollment management.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) regulations.
- Experience with budget development and management, including fiscal oversight and resource allocation.
- Proven ability to supervise staff, set performance expectations, and achieve departmental and institutional goals.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations, including financial aid compliance and FERPA.
- Demonstrated experience supervising staff, managing budgets, and leading complex operations.
- Proven ability to develop and implement strategies that support student recruitment, retention, and completion.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals.
- Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment within a higher education setting.
- Regular evening and occasional weekend hours are required to support student events, campus activities, Board of Trustees meetings, and institutional initiatives.
- Frequent interaction with students, faculty, staff, and community stakeholders, including managing sensitive and confidential situations.
- Must be able to manage multiple priorities, respond to urgent situations, and handle high levels of responsibility and decision-making.
- Occasional travel may be required for conferences, professional development, and community or statewide meetings.
- Ability to remain stationary for extended periods and operate standard office equipment; occasional movement across campus is required.
- Must be able to respond effectively to campus emergencies and student-related crises as part of the College's leadership team.

- Full-time position with a typical schedule of Monday-Thursday (8am – 5pm) and Friday (8am – 12pm).

- This is an exempt position with an estimated annual salary of $85,000.00 - $95,000.00.
