Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel-powered equipment, including construction machinery, industrial equipment, and vehicle fleets. Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, air brakes, suspension, and HVAC systems using schematics and advanced diagnostic tools.
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on heavy equipment such as excavators, tractors, and construction machinery to prevent breakdowns and extend operational lifespan.
- Repair and replace faulty components including engines, transmissions, brakes, tires, suspensions, electrical wiring, and hydraulic systems with precision using hand tools and power tools.
- Fabricate parts or modify equipment as needed to meet specific operational requirements or OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specifications.
- Troubleshoot complex equipment issues through detailed diagnostics and perform repairs efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and inspection logs to ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
- Support heavy equipment operation when necessary by assisting with equipment troubleshooting or performing minor repairs on-site.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic with dealership experience preferred; strong background in heavy equipment maintenance is essential.
- Extensive knowledge of diesel engine diagnostics and repair techniques for various machinery including construction equipment and semi-trucks.
- Skilled in fabrication, welding (including soldering), electrical diagnostics, schematics interpretation, and hydraulic troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with OEM parts replacement procedures and the use of service manuals for precise repairs.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery such as excavators, skid steers, and other construction equipment safely and effectively for repairs and diagnostics.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic software for electrical systems, and basic automotive repair techniques.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent problem-solving skills; capable of performing air brake adjustments accurately.
- Must have personal tools.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to team members or clients when needed.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working in various environmental conditions.
