Director of Finance – Private Equity Real Estate Development
Location: Owings Mills, Maryland (On-site, 5 days per week)
John Evans Recruiting’s client, a privately held and vertically integrated private equity real estate firm, is seeking a Director of Finance to support its expanding development and investment platform. The firm focuses on fundraising, acquiring, developing, and owning residential and mixed‑use assets across the Mid‑Atlantic, with a strong pipeline of ground‑up and value‑add projects.
The Director of Finance will partner closely with a senior-level Partner, providing strategic and hands-on financial leadership across corporate, project, and investment activities. This role is ideal for a CPA with a strong accounting foundation who is ready to deepen their involvement in development finance, capital strategy, and portfolio-level analysis. The Director will lead forecasting, capital planning, liquidity management, and financial evaluation of new development and acquisition opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Financial Leadership by advising the Partner and senior leadership on financial strategy and long-term planning. Build financial forecasts, capital plans, and scenario models for active and future developments. Underwrite new opportunities through detailed pro formas and sensitivity analyses.
- Cash Flow Management & Forecasting maintain corporate and project-level cash flow projections. Anticipate capital needs and manage allocation across projects and financing sources. Oversee draw processes and coordinate with lenders and equity partners.
- Project & Operational Finance by partnering with development and construction teams to align financial planning with execution. Review budgets, schedules, and cost reports to identify risks and opportunities Provide timely financial insights to support project decision-making.
- Corporate Financial Oversight leading accounting operations, reporting, and compliance. Deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for ownership and financial partners.Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and banking institutions.
- Team Leadership - Build and mentor a high-performing finance and accounting team. Strengthen processes, controls, and reporting systems across the organization.
Qualifications
- 10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including leadership roles.
- CPA required; experience in Real Estate, private equity real estate or development strongly preferred.
- Yardi, Tableau, PowerBI is a plus
- 5 Days in Office is needed.
Salary : $150,000 - $200,000
