Safety Manager

About the Role:

The Safety Manager plays a critical role in ensuring a safe working environment within the construction industry. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs that comply with regulatory standards and best practices. The Safety Manager will conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure that safety protocols are being followed. Additionally, this role involves training employees on safety procedures and promoting a culture of safety throughout the organization. Ultimately, the Safety Manager's efforts will significantly reduce workplace accidents and enhance the overall safety performance of the company.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3–5 years of progressive safety experience in construction
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred with ability to communicate safety expectations clearly to a diverse workforce

Certifications & Formal Training:

• OSHA 30‑Hour Construction or OSHA 510 – Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry
• Competent Person Training, including but not limited to:
  • Excavation & Trenching
  • Fall Protection
  • Confined Space (Construction)
• Excavation and Trenching Safety Certification with practical field application
• CPR / First Aid / AED (current)
• Hazard Communication (GHS)

Jobsite Expectations:

• Maintain an onsite presence during all working hours. Expected Hours: 7AM - 6PM Mon-Sat
  • Be physically present to monitor operations, identify hazards, and provide immediate safety support
• Conduct daily jobsite safety inspections
• Maintain overall jobsite security
  • Ensure controlled access to the site and enforce site security procedures
  • Verify fencing, signage, lighting, and access points are properly maintained
  • Coordinate with site supervision to prevent unauthorized entry and protect workers, equipment, and the public
• Conduct jobsite safety orientations
  • Deliver site‑specific safety orientations for all new workers, visitors, and subcontractors
  • Review project hazards, emergency procedures, required PPE, and site rules
  • Ensure documentation of completed orientations is accurate and up to date
• Support safe daily operations
  • Participate in pre‑task planning and toolbox talks
  • Serve as a safety resource for supervisors, foremen, and crews
  • Intervene and stop work when unsafe conditions or practices are observed

Skills:

The required skills such as accident investigation and safety management systems are essential for identifying hazards and implementing effective safety measures on construction sites. Occupational health knowledge is utilized to ensure that all employees are protected from health risks associated with construction work. Safety training skills are applied to educate workers about best practices and emergency procedures, fostering a culture of safety awareness. Conducting safety audits requires strong analytical skills to assess compliance and recommend improvements. Preferred skills, such as experience with safety management software, enhance the ability to track safety performance metrics and streamline reporting processes.
