Warehouse Specialist
Job Summary
The Warehouse Specialist is responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating training programs that enhance the skills, safety awareness, and overall performance of warehouse employees. This role requires a strong understanding of warehouse operations, equipment usage, and safety standards to ensure team members are fully prepared to perform their duties efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities
- Develop training programs and materials covering warehouse operations, safety procedures, equipment handling, and process best practices.
- Deliver training to new hires and existing employees on warehouse functions, including order picking, shipping & receiving, and material handling.
- Conduct hands-on equipment training for forklifts, clamp trucks, pallet jacks, cranes, and other heavy equipment.
- Ensure all training programs meet OSHA requirements and reinforce a culture of safety and compliance.
- Evaluate employee performance during training and provide constructive feedback to improve skills and operational proficiency.
- Partner with warehouse supervisors and management to identify skill gaps, training needs, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Maintain accurate training records, attendance logs, and documentation of employee progress.
- Support continuous improvement by updating training materials as warehouse processes or equipment evolve.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong background in warehouse distribution, with hands-on experience in order picking, material handling, and shipping & receiving.
- Proficiency in operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts, cranes, clamp trucks, pallet jacks, and RF scanners.
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and best practices in inventory control.
- Familiarity with OSHA standards and workplace safety requirements.
- Mechanical aptitude to assist in troubleshooting equipment issues during training sessions.
- Experience in material handling techniques that promote efficiency, ergonomics, and safety.
- Previous experience as a warehouse trainer or warehouse supervisor is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting during hands-on training demonstrations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively teach diverse groups of employees.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining training documentation.
