We are seeking a highly experienced and innovative Principal System Safety Engineer to lead and support safety engineering efforts across complex, multi-disciplinary programs. This role is critical in ensuring our systems meet stringent safety standards throughout their lifecycle-from concept and design through production and disposal.

Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze engineering hardware, electrical drawings, and schematics to assess fault tolerance, latent hazards, and compliance with safety requirements.
- Review and support operating and maintenance procedures to ensure proper administrative controls are in place.
- Collaborate across integrated product teams to eliminate hazards or implement effective safety controls.
- Develop creative solutions that enhance safety without compromising critical system performance.
- Lead safety efforts in coordination with Program Management and government authorities from program initiation through demilitarization.
- Design concise, testable safety requirements or analyze existing ones for safety compliance.
- Conduct System Safety Program and Design analyses.
- Drive improvement in underperforming safety programs and manage multiple large-scale safety initiatives.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across safety disciplines.
- Prepare and present Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for customer approval.
- Streamline safety processes and reporting across product lines for efficiency.
- Represent safety concerns at technical reviews and during safety approval processes.
- Interpret system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards.
- Produce internal and external reports detailing safety analyses and findings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand full product architecture and design.
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree and 8 years of relevant experience, OR
- Associate's degree and 10 years of relevant experience, OR
- Advanced degree in a related field and 5 years of experience, OR
- In lieu of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
- Professional Experience:
- Background in System Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software/Firmware Engineering, or equivalent safety engineering experience in Aerospace, Automotive, or Medical Device industries.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
- Strong systems thinking and ability to influence program-wide safety strategies.
- Experience with industry System Safety Programs, particularly in DoD or Aerospace sectors.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal and project management capabilities.
- STEM degree preferred.
- Experience working with U.S. Military programs.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
