Software Engineer - SAP Basis / S/4HANA System Administrator

Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid - 3 days onsite at 300 S. Brevard St.)

About The Role

COO Technology provides enterprise technology solutions supporting operations, resiliency, strategic execution, supply chain, shared services, and Corporate Properties. Within COO Technology, the CAO Technology team supports the Corporate Properties Group (CPG), enabling modernization and optimization through secure, scalable platforms.

We are seeking a Lead SAP Basis / S/4HANA System Administrator to support the migration from legacy SAP BASIS to SAP S/4HANA on the SAP RISE platform. This role will play a key part in implementation, administration, performance optimization, and long-term operational support of SAP environments.

This is a hands-on engineering role, not a development position, working alongside other SAP system administrators in a fast-paced, Agile environment.

Work Model

• Hybrid: 3 days onsite per week (mandatory)
• On-call: Participation in an on-call rotation may be required
  
  

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, monitor, upgrade, and maintain SAP systems including SAP S/4HANA, HANA DB, NetWeaver, and Solution Manager
• Support full lifecycle SAP S/4HANA implementations including system builds, upgrades, migrations, and service pack applications
• Perform system administration activities such as:
• Client copies
• Transport management
• System parameter tuning and performance optimization
• Administer SAP security:
• Create and maintain PFCG roles and authorization profiles
• Manage user provisioning and access
• Conduct audits and assess Segregation of Duties (SoD) risks
• Monitor system logs, short dumps, SQL traces, and performance metrics to ensure stability and uptime
• Design, configure, and support secure SAP integrations using REST APIs and enterprise integration patterns
• Engineer and support data movement and connectivity across SAP, SaaS platforms, databases, and endpoint systems
• Serve as a subject matter expert guiding architects, administrators, and functional teams on SAP Basis and S/4HANA best practices
• Troubleshoot complex, enterprise-wide SAP issues and deliver long-term, scalable solutions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and senior technology leaders
• Contribute to technology strategy, platform modernization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Mentor peers and participate in design and technical reviews

Minimum Qualifications

• 5 years of technology infrastructure or software engineering experience (or equivalent combination of education, training, or experience)
• 10 years of SAP Basis / SAP system administration experience
• 2 full lifecycle SAP S/4HANA implementations
• 5 years of hands-on experience with:
• SAP S/4HANA ecosystem (HANA DB, Fiori, BTP, MDG, GRC)
• System upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management
• Authorization concepts, role design, and user provisioning
• Database administration (HANA required; Oracle a plus)
• Experience with SAP RISE platform
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
• Scripting experience (e.g., automation, system maintenance)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in financial services or large enterprise environments
• Experience designing or supporting cloud-based SAP S/4HANA (SAP RISE) solutions
• SQL or general programming experience
• Experience with enterprise integrations and API-first architectures
• Familiarity with cloud and container platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker)
• Experience working across hybrid and distributed teams
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
• Experience working in the U.S. for 5 years (visa status helpful for conversion consideration)
