globally leading consumer device company based in Austin, TX is looking for Product Design Engineer to join their team.

Job Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with industrial designers, product integrity, hardware, software, and technology groups to refine & execute on the design of the product.
• Develop initial product layouts. Generate concepts, prototype, demonstrate & test to drive down-selection.
• Partner with external vendors & internal manufacturing teams to optimize designs for function, cosmetics and manufacturability.
• Ensure design meets requirements throughout its lifecycle by performing stress, tolerance, and failure analysis.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong foundation in engineering fundamentals including solid mechanics, materials science, heat transfer, mechanism design, and manufacturing processes.
• 3 years of experience in a mechanical engineering role.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present design concepts, contribute to brainstorming sessions, and collaborate effectively across teams.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, die casting, sheet metal fabrication, and machining, with opportunities to further develop high-volume manufacturing design expertise.
• Familiarity with metrology, fixture design concepts, computer-aided design (CAD), statistical process control (SPC), and failure analysis methodologies.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in consumer electronic design
• Experience in designing for mass production
• A sense of ownership
  
  

Type: Contract

Duration: 9 months with extension

Work Location: Austin, TX (hybrid or onsite)

Pay rate: $59.00 - $74.00/hr (DOE)
