DPP is seeking a Mainframe COBOL Developer for an opportunity in Columbia, SC.

Position summary:
- This role focuses on Host mainframe development for claims processing applications.
- Candidates must have proven hands‑on experience with mainframe technologies, COBOL and/or APS, and batch‑oriented systems.
- Applicants without direct mainframe experience will not be considered.
- COBOL and mainframe development experience
- Hands‑on work with batch applications
- Insurance or healthcare claims background
- APS
- NDVR
- Mainframe debugging tools
- Mainframe batch tools
- Reporting/Data Warehouse experience
- Batch processing experience
- Local candidates preferred
- 6 years of application development, systems testing or other job-related work experience.
- Develop code following structured Waterfall methodology
- Perform thorough unit testing before handoff to Systems Testing
- Independently debug issues and complete code walkthroughs
- Manage code migrations through all environments up to Production
- Collaborate with internal company teams and cross‑functional partners
- Strong organizational skills to meet firm, mandated timelines
- Clear, effective communication across teams and partner groups
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- This systems team supports TRICARE and VA contracts, delivering accurate and timely claims processing for active-duty military, veterans, and their families.
- You will join a collaborative team of ~15 professionals focused on hands‑on coding, testing, debugging, and managing migrations to production within a structured environment.
- All candidates must be able to obtain a C2 government clearance due to the sensitivity of the work.
- Hours: 8 am – 5 pm
- Occasional overtime may be required to ensure project deadlines are met
- While this position does not enter the on-call rotation immediately, the selected candidate will be added to the rotation approximately nine months after joining the team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other job-related degree;
- OR, Associates degree in CS, IT, or other job-related degree plus 2 years of work-related experience;
- OR, 4 years job-related work experience (total 10 years without a degree)
