Job Summary:

Cognite is a global SaaS leader specializing in AI and data solutions for complex business challenges. They are seeking a Principal Product Designer to lead design for their AI experiences, driving design strategy and mentoring design talent while collaborating with engineering and product management teams.

Responsibilities:

• Define and execute a comprehensive design strategy, ensuring cohesive user experiences from data ingestion through the entire customer journey with our platform

• Partner closely with product managers and engineering leads to balance technical constraints with optimal user experiences

• Lead design thinking sessions and facilitate cross-functional workshops

• Manage and mentor design team members, providing guidance on their careers and design skills

• Create seamless experiences for both technical users and business stakeholders

• Develop sophisticated information architecture for large-scale data exploration and analysis tools

• Conduct user research with data professionals to understand pain points in existing workflows

• Present design concepts and rationale to executive leadership and external stakeholders

• Be accountable for end-to-end design within high-impact product areas, from concept to final implementation

• Partner with PMs to craft systematic solutions that connect the dots between user needs, data, business goals, and business strategy

• Partner with engineers to build impactful products and features within the constraints of our technology and timelines

Qualifications:

Required:

• 8 years of product design experience with at least 3 years in senior or principal-level roles

• Proven track record designing complex B2B software, preferably in data, analytics, or AI/ML domains

• Experience with enterprise software design patterns and understanding of technical user workflows

• Portfolio demonstrating sophisticated problem-solving for complex, data-heavy interfaces

• Previous people manager experience
