Job Summary:
Benesch is a growing, multi-disciplined planning, engineering, and professional services firm enhancing infrastructure and communities across the country. They are seeking a Structural Project Engineer to work on complex projects, focusing on the analysis, inspection, load rating, and design of bridge structures.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and review structural and geometric calculations for bridge rehabilitation and design projects.
• Prepare and review finite element analysis models.
• Prepare and review bridge load rating reports to DOT standards.
• Prepare, compile and review plans, specifications, cost estimates and pay items in accordance with DOT standards.
• Assume responsibility for assigned design calculation files and plans, assuring adequate independent QC reviews on that work.
• Coordinate the above tasks with the Project/ Technical Manager
Qualifications:
Required:
• B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline required
• Valid license as a Professional Engineer
• Working toward or has obtained their Structural Engineer license in Illinois
• Minimum of 5 years of bridge inspection, analysis, load rating and/or design experience
• Strong communication and client relation skills
• Progressive experience with developing design drawings and utilizing MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
• Strong organization and leadership skills with a track record for adhering to design budgets and schedules
• Ability to perform complex analysis and design
• Ability to assemble a complete design package for assigned elements or projects
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Preferred:
• MS in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis or related discipline
• PE License
• Successful completion of one or more of the following FHWA-NHI courses is preferred but not required: Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges, Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges
• Experience working with IDOT, CDOT, ISTHA and/or Chicagoland local agencies
